School Days

Taryn's coming up on 1 month of being in school and so far so good! I guess you could call it daycare but we don't like that word so we call it "school" (sounds much better, right?). Our munchkin is the youngest one in her class but she's doing great learning from some of the older babies and making friends fast. It's so cute when we take her in the mornings and set her carrier on the ground usually some of the babies come crawling up to say good morning and see her. She has 2 great teachers, Ms. Socorro and Ms. Mumtaz, who have both been at her school for over 5 years so we know she's being well taken care of when we can't be with her.

Another cute thing...we get periodic emails from Taryn while she's at school. Usually it's just a quick note letting us know she's having a good day and sending us a picture. My day at the office gets a little bit brighter every time I see an email from her!!!

Time for Big Girl Toys

We pulled Taryn's exersaucer out of the closet a month or so ago thinking she'd be able to play in it but within about 5 seconds she was all hunched over and crying. So we put it away thought it was best to wait a while before we tried it again. For the past week she's been playing in the exersaucer at school so we got ours back out tonight. Here's a quick video of her checking things out. She gets really serious when she plays so I couldn't get any smiles out of her!

Weight Check

Yesterday I took Taryn for her weight check and I'm happy to report that she gained 1/2 pound in 2 weeks. She's made her way to a whopping 12lbs 3oz! Still on the small side but nothing wrong with that! And to prove that she's getting chunky here are a few recent snapshots I had on my phone.

Afternoon at the Arboretum

The week before Easter we made our first trip to the Arboretum for the Blooms. Evan and I had only been to The Arboretum once and after hearing how beautiful it is this time of year we had to check it out. We dressed Taryn in her Easter dress so we could get a few pictures of her but it's a little hard when she doesn't sit up just yet. Notice her awesome cat girl sunglasses...I love them! I actually got those to put in her Easter basket but she got to wear them a week early!


Our friends, Al and Crystal, have a season pass and they were nice enough to let us borrow it for the day so we got in for free which was an added bonus! I've never seen so many tulips in my life and in so many bright colors.

I promise Evan went with us but as usual he never made it out from behind the camera. I promise I'll get some pictures of him with the little princess soon!

Yum Yum Cereal

Two weeks ago we embarked on a fun but messy adventure...baby food! On the first try I'm not sure how much of it actually made it to her tummy but she had fun so we thought that was a great start. Now that she's been practicing every day she's starting to get the hang of the spoon but for some reason she thinks that as soon as the spoon goes in to her mouth so should her hand. Whatever works for you baby girl...

4 Month Check-up

Taryn turns 5 months old on Friday but today was her 4 month well-child checkup. As usual she did great at the dr's office. She got one shot but she took it like a champ, only a few seconds of crying but no tears. We knew she was a little munchkin because she always has been but apparently she's really little for her age and has fallen off the growth chart when it comes to her weight :(. She seems to eat really well and unfortunately for me she still wakes up in the night to eat at least once. After we went through her feeding schedule Dr. Robert said that all seemed to be fine so she might have really high metabolism and she's burning through everything she eats quickly. A side note, she doesn't get that from her mom I know that much! We just started her on rice cereal last week which I think will help but he recommended we should supplement with 1-2oz of formula after she nurses before going to bed. He said this should help her put on some weight and maybe allow her to sleep longer stretches at a time. We go back in a few weeks to have her weight checked so prayers for Taryn to chunk up a bit!

Big Girl Bottle

Tonight Evan was feeding Taryn a bottle and she decided to take over and do it herself. The bottle looks bigger than she is!
