Yum Yum Cereal

Two weeks ago we embarked on a fun but messy adventure...baby food! On the first try I'm not sure how much of it actually made it to her tummy but she had fun so we thought that was a great start. Now that she's been practicing every day she's starting to get the hang of the spoon but for some reason she thinks that as soon as the spoon goes in to her mouth so should her hand. Whatever works for you baby girl...

Whoa, I think I'll stick with a bottle please

Hi Dad look at me!

let go of the spoon mom, I've got it covered
It wasn't as easy as I thought

4 Month Check-up

Taryn turns 5 months old on Friday but today was her 4 month well-child checkup. As usual she did great at the dr's office. She got one shot but she took it like a champ, only a few seconds of crying but no tears. We knew she was a little munchkin because she always has been but apparently she's really little for her age and has fallen off the growth chart when it comes to her weight :(. She seems to eat really well and unfortunately for me she still wakes up in the night to eat at least once. After we went through her feeding schedule Dr. Robert said that all seemed to be fine so she might have really high metabolism and she's burning through everything she eats quickly. A side note, she doesn't get that from her mom I know that much! We just started her on rice cereal last week which I think will help but he recommended we should supplement with 1-2oz of formula after she nurses before going to bed. He said this should help her put on some weight and maybe allow her to sleep longer stretches at a time. We go back in a few weeks to have her weight checked so prayers for Taryn to chunk up a bit!

Here's a breakdown of her stats:

Weight: 11lbs, 9oz (below 5%)
Height: 24 3/4 inches (30%)
Head: 16 cm (25%)

I'm way behind on updating the blog with pictures and videos but it's on my to-do list so check back!

Big Girl Bottle

Tonight Evan was feeding Taryn a bottle and she decided to take over and do it herself. The bottle looks bigger than she is!

Back to work

Gosh, it’s really been over 2 weeks since I’ve updated the blog?!?!. I guess I have a decent excuse since I’m back at work and all my time in the mornings and evenings is dedicated to Taryn. Prior to coming back I wasn't quite sure how I would feel about leaving her but I knew I needed to have a good attitude and try to be positive. It has been a shock to go from spending all day with Taryn for the past 4 months to spending all that time staring at a computer screen inside a grey cubicle.

This looks way more fun than work

We're so glad that my mom offered to watch Taryn for the first month to help ease the transition for all of us. I'm not sure how I would have managed to get back in to a routine if I had to get myself and her ready and out the door in the mornings. I know they've been having lots of fun reading books, taking walks and probably singing lots of silly songs. Maybe we should start playing the lottery so I can stay home and do those fun things too!

Meme must have been doing a crazy dance or something

Roly Poly

Taryn can officially roll over! She's always hated being on her tummy so now she can get herself out of that sticky situation. It's so fun to watch her learn and discover new thing! She's not our little newborn anymore but turning into a big girl already!

Aquarium

This is a long overdue post that I'm finally getting around to. A few weeks ago we took a fun outing to the Dallas World Aquarium with friends. I haven't been there in about 5 years and I'd forgotten how nice the aquarium is (I highly recommend it over the Dallas Zoo). Crystal, Bella and baby Aaron along with Katie and Landon all joined us. Taryn isn't exactly old enough to enjoy a trip like this but she loves getting out of the house and visiting new places. I still think she had fun hearing new sounds until she fell asleep! I'll miss taking little trips like this when I go back to work but thank goodness I have 4 weeks of vacation this year so I'm sure I'll be taking lots of days off to spending with my cutie pie!

Taryn with the cheetah

Bella LOVED the cheetah - she has a "Leopard" that goes everywhere with her

Taryn crashed out just after the flamingos - my favorite!
